University Partnership

University Partnership Center for Community and Economic Development History

University of South Florida received funding through the first round of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Outreach Partnership Centers (COPC) program and the University of Florida Shimberg Center for Affordable Housing was a recipient in the second style. Over the past several years, the participants in these efforts have sought to build a statewide collaboration, hosted a statewide conference, and worked together on jointly funded projects. The success of the recognition that more could be achieved by working together has led to the establishment of a joint partnership, serving as the first step in building a statewide network able to draw from the diverse expertise of Florida universities.

University Partnership for Community Development

The partnership is a joint effort of the Jim Walter Partnership Center and the Shimberg Center for Affordable Housing, University of Florida. The benefits of the collaboration across the universities have been demonstrated by efforts funded through such organizations as the Fannie Mae Foundation’s University-Community Partnership and the Florida Department of Community Affairs, in addition to HUD COPC. Through this cooperative arrangement, the universities will play an integral part in Tampa Bay area community development initiatives.
